Text description provided by the architects. General Description

This project consisted on the development for a textile industry layout, merged at the site with strong commercial functions. This meant the whole productive systems had to be studied, with improvements being proposed and implemented, and simultaneously, provide solutions for a whole new commercial approach that was required. This resulted in a very heavily personalized workspaces, meeting rooms and reception areas.

The building itself consists of a basic industrial volume, framed by it´s commercial sectors in front which present themselves to the visitors. Whilst their shape is pure, it can be related to code bars, as an analogy to industrial and serial production (this aspect was a challenge proposed by the client as a premise to the whole concept).

The whole interior of the building was designed to show it´s structural systems, not hiding the structure, neither the natural order of overlapping materials, therefore demonstrating how all comes together to physically create the spaces to work at.

Main Reception Area

The main reception area is the welcoming spot at the Barata Garcia Headquarters. Its design is intended to be clear and transparent, providing an overall view of the whole building. Here you can perceive the main “woodbox” containing all the main commercial and administrative functions, leaving clear paths to meeting rooms, work rooms, production facilities and to the upper floor. The stair acts as a dominant but humble element in a way that it does not impose itself to the overall reception space.
